Overview
Yafa an-Naseriyye is a Palestinian town on the southern outskirts of Nazareth, often considered part of the Nazareth metropolitan area. Before 1948, it was a village of about 900 residents cultivating grains, olives, and vegetables. During the 1948 Nakba, Yafa came under Israeli control but avoided expulsion, though it absorbed some refugees from nearby destroyed villages. The town was subjected to military rule until 1966 and lost agricultural land to Jewish settlement expansion around Nazareth. Today it serves effectively as a suburb of Nazareth, with many residents working in the larger city.
Historical Significance
