Tira is a Palestinian town in the central Triangle region. Before 1948, it was a village of about 3,000 residents cultivating olives, grains, and vegetables. During the Nakba, Tira came under Israeli control and was subjected to military rule until 1966. Significant agricultural land was confiscated for Jewish settlements including Tirat Yehuda and the Ta'anakhim military zone. The town has grown to over 26,000 residents but faces severe overcrowding and housing shortages.
