Overview
Tarqumiya is a Palestinian town located approximately 18 km northwest of Hebron city, near the Green Line. An ancient settlement with a long agricultural tradition, Tarqumiya is known for its olive groves and fruit orchards. Since 1967, the town has been severely affected by the Separation Wall, which cuts through its western agricultural lands, and by land confiscation for the Telem settlement and Highway 60 bypass road. The Tarqumiya Crossing (commercial crossing) serves as a major chokepoint for Palestinian goods entering Israel, subjecting traders to lengthy inspections and delays. Settler attacks on farmers during olive harvest are a regular occurrence.
