Overview

Tammun (Arabic: طمون) is a Palestinian town in the Tubas Governorate of the northeastern West Bank, located approximately 18 km southeast of Jenin and 10 km southwest of Tubas city. Situated on the edge of the Jordan Valley, Tammun serves as an agricultural and trading center for surrounding Bedouin communities and villages. Since 1967, the town has been under Israeli military occupation, facing land confiscation for settlements in the nearby Jordan Valley — including Mehola and Shadmot Mehola — and severe movement restrictions through the Tayasir checkpoint that controls access to the Jordan Valley. The town's farmers have lost access to significant agricultural lands in the valley, devastating the local economy.

Historical Significance

Agricultural and trading center on the edge of the Jordan Valley; service hub for surrounding Bedouin communities.
