Overview

Kafr Yasif is a Palestinian town in the Western Galilee, known for its educational tradition and cultural significance. Before 1948, it was a mixed Muslim-Christian village of about 1,400 residents, famous for its citrus cultivation. The village came under Israeli control in 1948 and was subjected to military rule until 1966. Unlike many villages, Kafr Yasif was not depopulated, but it lost agricultural land to confiscation. The town has maintained its mixed Muslim-Christian character and has grown to about 10,000 residents. Kafr Yasif is known for high educational achievement and was home to one of the first Arab high schools in the Galilee.
