Overview
Kafr Manda is a Palestinian town in the Lower Galilee at the foot of Mount Atzmon. Before 1948, it was a village of approximately 1,800 residents cultivating grains, olives, and figs. During the 1948 Nakba, the village came under Israeli control but avoided complete depopulation, though it was subjected to military rule until 1966 and lost significant agricultural land to confiscation. The nearby Jewish settlement of Kfar Hasidim was built on confiscated Kafr Manda land. The town has grown to over 20,000 residents but faces severe overcrowding and limited municipal services.
Historical Significance
Palestinian town in Lower Galilee surviving 1948; exemplifies land confiscation for Jewish settlements.
