Overview
Jaljulia is a Palestinian town in the central Triangle, near the border with the West Bank city of Qalqilya. Before 1948, it was a village of about 600 residents cultivating grains and vegetables, closely connected to Qalqilya markets. The 1948 Nakba cut Jaljulia off from its West Bank hinterland. The village came under Israeli control and was subjected to military rule until 1966. Land was confiscated for the Nirit and other Jewish settlements. The town has grown to about 10,000 residents.
Historical Significance
