Overview
Jadeidi-Makr is a Palestinian town in the Western Galilee, formed from the merger of two adjacent villages — Jadeidi and Makr — in the 1990s. Before 1948, the twin villages had a combined population of about 2,000 residents who cultivated grains, olives, and vegetables. Located near Acre, the villages came under Israeli control in 1948 and were subjected to military rule until 1966. Significant agricultural land was confiscated for Jewish settlements including Achihud and the expanding Acre municipality. The merged town faces severe overcrowding and limited municipal services.
