Overview
Deir al-Ghusun (Arabic: دير الغصون) is a Palestinian town in the Tulkarm Governorate of the northwestern West Bank, located approximately 8 km northeast of Tulkarm city. The town is situated in a fertile agricultural zone and was historically known for its citrus orchards and vegetable production. Since 1967, Deir al-Ghusun has been severely affected by the Israeli separation wall, which runs through its western lands, cutting the town off from thousands of dunams of agricultural land. The nearby settlement of Sallit (1979) and the industrial zone at Nitzanei Shalom have confiscated additional land. The town's economy, once based on agriculture and cross-border trade, has been devastated by these policies.
Historical Significance
Historic agricultural town known for citrus and vegetables; severely affected by the separation wall and settlement expansion.
